NOTE 辨析 Playwright or dramatist? There is very little difference in meaning or use between these words. Both are used especially to talk about people who write plays for the theatre, although they can also refer to writers for television or radio. Playwright is used equally to talk about modern writers and writers in the past; dramatist is used slightly more to talk about writers in the past, although you can also talk about modern dramatists.
