nGRAMMAR: Reciprocal verbs
Marry is a reciprocal verb. This type of verb is used when saying that two or more people do something that involves both or all of them. It does not need to have an object:
Their parents did not want them to marry.
In this sentence, marry is intransitive and does not have an object.
You can also say:
His parents did not want them to marry each other.
His parents did not want him to marry her.
In these sentences, marry is transitive.
